What started in a Buffalo beauty school parking lot—humming along to the Grateful Dead and wondering "why am I here?"—has evolved into an award-winning career built on passion, excellence, and that undeniable moment when a client sees themselves transformed.

In 2015, Derek and his wife Alexandra opened Derek the Salon in Sarasota's Burns Square Historic District. Together, they've built more than a salon—they've created a tribe of master stylists who share a commitment to artistry, continuous education, and genuine care.

What truly drives me is the moment a woman sees herself in the mirror and feels beautiful—made possible with the support of my wife, Alexandra.
